Written November 2008
…For me, it could have been groundhogs day. In prison it all seems like the same old shit; feet hit the floor in the morning, I eat, read, walk, and then work-out. With to many endless sighs in between – the tired kind that exaggerate your frustration with something.
However, I know in the back of my head, beyond the frustration, and the apathy, that it is an important time in the World. As irritating as this place is, it’s given me an opportunity to reflect upon Life and all Its’ Positives and Negatives, which, as we’ve come to accept them, are merely random occurrences.
I sit in here, and by the simple task of reading the newspaper and catching bits of CNN, I watch society attempt to overcome the hardships. Sort of the way a little kid rides in the backseat and sees the everyday public go about their business. Knowing that one day they’ll be out there to, navigating the hurdles. Just like me in here.
But for right now I’m sitting in here, longing to participate in America’s current happening: which is, of course, Election 2008.
The Grand Arena of Politics – giving me a new sense of reality. One that is so important, yet so goddamn technical at times. As handicapped as I am in here without the Internet, or and magazine subscriptions, I find a way to learn, and always feel triumphant when I’ve got the advantage in a heavy conversation.
But my pride shouldn’t run so deep. My mastery of political issues is irrelevant to most people in the facility. While I delve into the so-called “conspiracy theories”, these guys seem quite content discussing prison life, which, obviously, encompasses the entire criminal culture. Drugs, gangs, prison war stories – all those activities that give them a reason to come back.
Yes Mr. Gangster Tough Guy – the C.D.C. is quite happy doing business with you. Continue lying to yourself as you grow old and your family slowly forgets about you…I’m sure your kids will have a lot of fun with your wife’s Sancho.
…A bit of subject, and I couldn’t possibly resist, but now it’s time to return to what is important…current events. Like I’ve said many times before, solitary thought combined with deep reflection make a person come to great revelations. I’m having deep thoughts about all those “random occurrences”, defined more specifically here as History, which every so often gives us an event so monumental, so massive in what it is, that they are not soon to reach oblivion.
The morning of September 11th 2001 is one that this Generation will certainly never forget. It is something that will go down in records, books, and archives forever.
And that last word is a rarity in my vocabulary, because I am one who realizes that Everything ends eventually. But practically, in humanistic terms, those two planes flying into the World Trade Center is something that even thousands of years from now, as the Age of Capricorn reaches the Cosmos and these years will be mere numbers to be mentioned in a time long forgotten, our future generations will still speak of Nine-One-One as a day of infamy.
Some will not the heroism, others, more cynical – maybe even more realistic – will examine all the consequences of that day and wonder if mankind regressed back to its’ primal, savage nature. After all, the most powerful Nation in the world was supposed to be dedicated to justice, not vengeance.
Seven years later, as a “culprits” remain uncaught, and the people see an endless war, a collapsing economy, and a slavery to foreign fuel – all those most detrimental factors that indicate a civilization on the brink of destruction – they see the face of one man…Mr. George Herbert Walker Bush.
It’s beside the point that Bush will probably go down in History alongside such monsters as Hitler and Stalin – these mentioned pretences are what lead up to Barack Obama’s landslide victory. The people reflected upon all these things, and immediately correlated a political party to a failed policy. Obama couldn’t lose, because to the people – which unfortunately are an ignorant mob – he embodies something different.
How does a no-name forty seven year old senator from Illinois, handicapped by the color of his skin in a country only accustomed to Anglo-Saxon presidents, manage to raise more money in a campaign than any other presidential candidate in history? Then go on to become elected into the highest office. Necessary questions, but I think I know why…
First, that’s small talk. Those are trivial facts you hear about all over the place. However, the facts you only mentioned in the media outlets but held strongly in the average public conversation (and conservative talk radio) is that of Mr. Obama’s “radical associations.”
For starters, he attended a church whose pastor shouted anti-American statements. “U.S. of KKK A”, “the chickens have come home to roost” – meaning, essentially, that the Nations victimized by the U.S. have finally come to pay back their oppressor. All these hate-filled sentiments are confirmed by Wright himself. When interviewed, he even tried to justify them, “You can’t commit terrorism on others and not expect it to happen to you.” It was even rumored that Wright’s church offered publications out by Hamas; the terrorist organization currently embattled with Israel.
Obama’s other “radical association” is one Mr. William Ayers. Who is an unrepentant domestic terrorist from the 60s’, and a former member of a communist group that bombed the pentagon, among many other national buildings.
For years Barack Obama held close relationships held close relationships with these gentlemen. One could imagine the conversations amongst them. Sitting around long after the church congregation has, wistfully talking about how the rich should be taxed and the wealth divided among the poor.
All these things are known. Someone wish a reflective mind could get an idea on how Obama feels about such important issues. There’s no way the United States population so ardently supported him if the majority of them didn’t agree – or at least relate in some small way.
The fact remains that throughout the years, throughout the Age of Information, long past since Vietnam and other conflicts forced people to question the motives and actions of the American Government, a new depiction has been developing among the masses. Barack Obama is the incarnation of these revelations. He represents all these unanswered questions. This is why the whole world sees him not as a black man, or a socialist, but as a man symbolizing what Governmental policy has forced us to desire – Change.
He could have been running around with a copy of The Communist Manifesto, shouting anti-Zionist epithets, and he still would have been adored by the people.
This election was a no-brainer. All his campaign had to do was pronounce “change.” And say it loud enough and long enough until the prospect was engraved in our heads. Quote a little of John McCain’s voting record, and the rest is History. Having Sarah Palin as the Republican’s running mate didn’t hurt his chances either.
For the passing days after the historic win I’ve been in deep contemplative thought. Obama? OBAMA?! I recall my political guru, Noam Chomsky, and think about the past, oh, six presidents we’ve had. “They’ve all got dirt under the rug” a political grad student once told me. And indeed they do. While their actions wouldn’t normally warrant the old cliché do to the prevalent belief that “America can do no wrong”, at the very least our past President’s actions are those which would receive condemnation on other national leaders.
But as already stated: the times are changing. While there are still many seeped in patriotism and praise our former leaders the facts about their actions are becoming known and the old perceptions are wearing thin…America can do wrong.
National pieties aside; Nixon still ordered 18 months of relentless bombing on Cambodia – furthering the Vietnam War and U.S. hegemony; Reagan supported death squads all over Latin America – also for U.S. hegemony; Clinton had some thirty people murdered in Arkansas – without a single prosecution (nobody other than Bob Barr cared about the blowjob); and Bush Junior….well, almost needless to say, but the Iraq War was an embarrassing blunder. Morally, it’s condemned. Especially from men proclaiming Christian ethics. But it is inevitable. Because it is the American Agenda. It is, for intents and purposes…conquest. While during the campaigns we see just average Joes and Janes, you and me, wandering around Anytown, U.S.A., shaking hands, kissing babies, we know, as alternative reading tells us, that once these politicians get put into office, they commit atrocities.
They’re obligated to fulfill a position. Only it’s not one “of the people”, but of Elite influence. Whether it be business interests or the sole purpose of global control; all presidents must comply with it.
Now, most of our former presidents fill that role nicely. But when I look at Barack Obama, and after learning of his upbringing, reading his book, and even seeing his kids – I just don’t get it. It has me baffled. The mold has been broken.
Regardless, the Agenda must progress. To say that he’s going to abolish our hegemony is utterly unrealistic. American Corporations still demand dominance in the World Market, requiring the suppression of the citizens of other nations; Israel still needs our funding, no matter how many war crimes they commit; and until an alternative fuel comes out, we’re going to remain the number one consumer of the world’s oil. No matter what.
We should be anxious to see what happens next. What policies shall Mr. Obama and his squeaky clean administration implement first to further accelerate the all powerful American Empire?
I’ll be devastated when I learn of another travesty ala Operation Iraqi Freedom. But I know it’s unavoidable. It’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of time.
These are the reasons why it’s easier for me to believe that Obama, like every president before him, was pre-selected for his mission. But in power via huge contributions and voracious campaign mantras so that he can garner massive public support and “win” the vote. Oozing charisma, pronouncing a paragon shift in politics, he appeals to this new generation. The Elites knew he couldn’t lose.
Flatteringly, these guys want my thoughts on all these matters. And I told them basically the same thing…Obama’s figurehead. He’s a puppet adhering to his political party, elite businessmen, and other outside influences. He doesn’t speak for me, or you, but for those in which he has undoubtedly made promises to.
Maybe this is the reincarnation of the rebellious 60’s. A time when a new face was put in the White House and the public was unwavering in its dissidence. And we all waited for the horizon to bring us something different.
Be warned though; for we shouldn’t be surprised if we hear about something happening to Barack Obama. Kennedy was taken out by his own administration because he refused to follow the Agenda.
That won’t happen as long as Obama follows suite and “fills” his position correctly. As horrible as it is, remember; these are mere truths as known throughout time. Authority, tyranny, and corruption all work together. There’s little we can do but sit back and see what happens.
