Maxim Magazine Understands Human Nature

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

I was in the grocery store the other day, wading around while my mother bought me my three hundred dollar food supply (I like to eat), when I came across the latest Maxim magazine. I picked it up, flipped it open, and after browsing at the titties for a minute, found two pages of what was aptly titled “The Evolution of Man.” (Or something to that affect) The pictures were rendered in a retro 80’s arcade style, and it displayed a little chart parodying our cultural evolution.
There was this little picture of a man carrying a wheelbarrow with a woman sitting in it. The era: 9,000 years ago. The most clever little caption carried along with the little picture; “Man creates wheel: so begins the time in which woman start to judge their mating partners based upon what kind of wheels they have.”
Not a “haha” sort of laughter, but the one that makes you smirk and wonder who was sitting at the office one day contemplating how people nowadays end up having kids. There probably wasn’t to much discerning needed; it’s rather obvious how flashing trends inevitably lead to the procreation and so-called “growth” of society.
That crafty writer doesn’t even know how right he is. He probably was on some coffee break, wading around like I was in the supermarket, when he suddenly saw the guy in the next cubicle flirting with a secretary…and thought to himself “how does that fat fuck get all those girls?” Then it donned on him “oh yeah, he’s driving a new Mercedes Benz, and I’m driving my mom’s minivan.” And there we are.
Stands to be an absolute truth however: that is how women usually “fall” in love. It’s not personality, or anything to do with “compatibility.” Instead, most relationships are based upon what kind of style you exhibit…the usual facts of buying things you don’t need, or ringing up debt; so on…those things usually don’t matter. At least that’s the opinion of this social observer.

Just Let Them Kill You

“Do you believe in Jesus?”
“Yes I do.”
“Well, you’re about to meet him.”
Bang.
Death Wish 2 – after Paul Kersey finds one of the men who raped his daughter

We don’t want these things to take place. We collectively conclude that “evil” is condemned and should be punished. But, as I’ve stated before, under different circumstances we condone similar actions. Aside from that right now, we should be concerned with the criminal activity that we read about constantly in our newspapers.
Gang members have zero remorse when they shoot you, your wife, and your child…all they want, as the ones being interviewed for shows like GangLand will testify towards, is quick cash and the “rush” of putting a gun to your head.
Pretty soon the people are going to have to make a choice. Especially over here in the Golden State. These borders’ produce more criminals, as does our prison system, and while they’re out murdering innocent teenagers, raping you’re daughters, and robbing you’re grandmothers – all the while laughing in your face, literally! – You, the masses, choose to condemn all measures that would prevent these things from happening.
What then, oh Enlightened Red Wolf, can we do? It’s rather simple actually. The steps are right there. Marches on city streets are always a good idea. Exercising your right to bear arms is another. Even in public, a legal handgun is merely a ticket for a person with a clean record. Far worth it for staying alive, I say. But most importantly we can demand radical changed to our border security and our prison system.
The former might be a bit more difficult seeing as it is more on Federal boundaries. But for anyone who wants to stop seeing illegal immigrants come over here and join gangs – then proceed on with any one of the former actions listed above – I say to write to you’re fucking congress. Let them know about it! The latter example I must believe could be resolved a bit easier. All that would be required is that magically little word…transparency. The most important element we can have in our government…whether you’re on the so called “right” or the so called “left.” We need to know what our officials are doing, we need to be informed on the decisions they are making, and we need complete oversight with every single institution that is in our Nation. Church, schools, prison, and our legislative bodies – including every single person paid under our tax dollars – need to be examined to make sure they are worth the money and the effort.
There is something else that might be of some help. And goddamnit, I hate to condone this sort of thing, but with my experience in human behavior I gotta tell you, I really gotta tell you what the real remedy is. Vigilantes. You heard it from me first folks. A few good men willing to take up arms and patrol the streets, exercising this ancient philosophy only on those who we can be sure are street scum, is the only way to install fear into those who have installed it into our homes. Far be it for me to tell someone that it isn’t his (or her) natural right to defend his hometown. And to be exact, “hometown” doesn’t constitute spray painting a stop sign or any old bullshit like that. It is that I live here…I pay taxes here…I have my family…my neighbor’s family….together we have agreed not to be harassed.
“Preaching to the choir” you say. Perhaps. But don’t say I didn’t tell you. These street gangs are even below the most audacious of examples. I would like to name them…but a semi-smart person would instantly come up with some of the most evil in History’s Rouge Galleries (including some from our country) and I tell you there is no comparison. These people have them beat, hands down, with fucked up actions. I promise you.

Although I’m saddened that I missed out on Baldwin Park’s National Night Out event, I’m extremely pleased to see at least a few people getting out and displaying their discontent for crime. But the sad reality should surprise nobody was that it was only about a hundred people who marched. Relatively few compared to the amounts of people who actually live in rough areas – or who even read the newspapers.
What spurs a person into a worthy cause? What event can take place that would change someone’s attitude and even speak their opinion? Or do they even have an opinion?
We’re like little sheep. Aside from the fact that Americans are the primary reason that absolute Democracy is a bad idea, it can earnestly be said that we want to be good…I have to believe even a small shred of that sentiment. Wake up. Take action. Anything and everything will help to progress to a better world. Because, I don’t know if you’ve looked around recently…we’re just barely civilized.

A Trickling Revolution OR How I learned to accept that Illegal Immigrants will never stop pouring over our Walls

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Be upset about it all you want. Hate it. Despise it, even. But in the end you’ll never be as upset as all those poor Native Indians who were slaughtered during the coming of the Europeans. You couldn’t have shared their despair if you lived a 100 years inside of a prison wall – ostracized from all that you know and love in this World. It’s simply something you’re not capable of doing…and neither am I for that matter.
But when you do attempt such compassionate empathy, you might begin to acquire a certain amount of sympathy as will; for all the Hispanics who go through a virtual hell and virtual high water to come over to this country – taken from them many years ago – simply to pick strawberries in one-hundred degree weather…only to go home to a cold case of Budweiser.
Now, you would think that drinking the Budweiser would be torture enough, but then, my god; they crossed hundreds of miles and risked getting caught by border-vigilantes and “good-ole-boy” border patrol guards, just to work in such misery and dread. I can’t bring myself to hate them for that. At all. I have to realize the conditions that brought them here in the first place: namely, United States hegemony. Starting with the imperialism that founded this country and continuing through trade agreements like NAFTA, the standard of Mexican life in the homeland is not prospering these days.
These are the reasons why Hispanics are coming over here. And, again, I can’t bring myself to be upset about it. If the shoe was on the other foot (the Red, White, and Blue foot) and the Mexican War was won by the Mexicans, we would have been equally upset about it. Because that’s the leading force in the World: not morals or ethics, but strong-arm and force. “Might makes Right” or so it’s been said.
So at the very least, we can be happy that the Mexican people don’t have the firepower to take it back from us. Instead, they’ve been trying a smaller revolution. A “drop, drop, drop” of reintegration back into the Land that was once theirs’. And, like I already stated, this personally doesn’t offend me. But on a political perspective, I couldn’t exactly say it’s the right thing to do either. After all, when they do work, it’s usually “under the table” – meaning they don’t pay any taxes. On top of that, the money that is paid to them is almost always split into one-third…with a third going to rent, a third going to Budweiser, and the last third going back to Mexico to pay the bills…and, perhaps: pay the smugglers (called Coyotes) who are bringing his children next week.
No, I can’t be entirely upset with them for these efforts to survive. What I can be upset about is their offspring. Because while the majority of illegal immigrants do strive to live an honest life, it’s the younger majority that feel the irresistible need to join gangs and destroy innocent lives. These are the ones we should be exported back across the border. Not the ones trying to work and live.
Ah, but then what is the solution for thee woes? What discussion shall we have? For starters: the firepower that is held by Mexicans is usually, if not always, in the hands of the drug cartels, who lobby for stricter laws on drugs so that their profit margin goes up. Eliminate the drug laws and you eliminate their power. For all the immigrants who do want an honest life, we could speed up the citizenship process and bring more jobs (and more tax-revenue) for the States’.
There is always another option, but we choose not to discern them. Ask yourself why? Right before you ask yourself: if you were kicked out of you’re country, and were forced to live in an impoverished one, wouldn’t you break a few laws to make things better for yourself?

They’re dropping like, well, celebrities…any guess on whose going to be number Six?

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Written July 1st, 09….so it’s a little dated

Call it supernatural phenomenon. Call it superstition. Call it even paranoia delusion. But it always seems that celebrities die in groups of three. Ever since the fateful plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and J.P. “Big Bopper” Richardson in 1959, there has been a persistent myth that once one goes, two are sure to follow. It always seemed that way. Or at least my limited memory on the subject perceives it to be that way.
But then one morning I realized that it had been awhile since any big celeb had passed on. The last I could remember was probably Paul Newman. And then, the unthinkable happened. It was unexpected. It was startling. And it was mildly enticing…that’s right: David Carradine tied his balls up to his throat and strangled himself to get a hard-on. I’ll never be able to watch Kung-Fu ever again; a spiritual holy man was in reality a sexual weirdo…just like me. Dire thoughts, indeed.
A few weeks had passed and – in almost a small bit of irony, due to Conan O’ Brian’s triumphant return to ‘Latenight as new Host to the Tonight Show – Ed McMahan passed away at the age of 86. A good man, and fellow drinker who, as Conan pointed out, had a laugh which became the “soundtrack of the Tonight Show.” I just hope that McMahan caught a couple of episodes of Conan’s hosting – as it is the new genius of late night.
Then, on the 24th of June, I found myself in a comparatively mild drinking binge, contemplating the evils of Government and the endless stupidities of human nature…when it suddenly occurred to me that: there’s one more. Isn’t there?
Who was to be next then? I KNEW! In my mind there was only one possible person: that timeless beauty – who even at 50 looked gorgeous nude – Ms. Farrah Fawcett. I went over it in my head for a few minutes, about how her condition has been made rather public and well-known. I had just seen a report the previous night.
Sure enough, the next morning I woke up, fired up the computer, and the first report I read: “Farrah Fawcett dead at 62.” Suddenly, I felt really bad. Because if I had made a some-what “dead-pool” like gamble the night before – I would have been a richer man. So instead of spiraling into a guilt-filled nightmare, I decided to amass myself with old Playboy photos of Farrah that I found online, along with a cold bottle of Mickey’s. This helped.
“That was three” I told myself. The nightmare was over, at least for the time being. No famous people would be dying anytime soon. Or so I thought.
Then, sometime in the afternoon I turned on the news. The breaking story out of Los Angeles was that Michael Jackson had been rushed to the hospital. “Oh well”; these things happen all the time. But then I read the caption at the bottom of the screen: cardiac arrest? This could potentially be a bad outcome for the King of Pop. But hell, I’m sure they’ll figure it out, right? After all, Michael doesn’t go anywhere without his personal medical assistant, and I’m sure he’s got a whole assortment of pills that open the heart, close it, and do all sorts of medical miracles. I convinced myself that Michael was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t a fan of his. He did, as anyone can surely admit, have an unhealthy relationship with little children.
All he needed was a little Jesus Juice, a couple pills, and his pet monkey; that would surely restore the color to his face. I mean…err…anyways; I jumped back on the computer to look up a few things. Then, about 10 minutes later, I get a phone call from my mother:
“Did you hear?!”
“No…” I replied.
“Michael Jackson died.”
“They said he was in the hospital right now.”
“No, it’s just been reported that he’s dead.”

And sure enough, TMZ was right on the money. The King of Pop was dead at 50. After a lifetime of amazing talent, a bizarre lifestyle, and several lawsuits; the biggest musical name since Elvis Presley (probably) was dead.
“Oh man.” Suddenly I felt even worse; first my prediction of a Farrah Fawcett, and then my wrong prediction that this was going to round out the 3 celebs. Then I realized that poor Farrah was going to be forgotten in the coming…minutes. If not sooner than that. International child molester Michael Jackson was going to swallow up the media with his untimely death.
And that’s the point I believe most fans are neglecting. Jesse Jackson might be able to sound prolific with all the rhetoric about “his shortcomings not outweighing his strengths” or something like that, but the fact is that Michael Jackson had an extremely unusual, and, in my opinion, very inappropriate relationship with little kids. By his own admission! Sleeping with them, having nude pictures on the bed stand; all sorts of things that most parents look at as unhealthy. But Jacko, somehow, was able to make all the parents of all those kids who stayed at NeverLand Ranch forget about these things.
Is this the age of stupidity? Or just parental neglect on such a large scale as to even allow such an event to happen? Not an isolated incident, but one that occurred all the all time because parents continued to let their kids go over his house, even after the testimony came out.
There could be a good thing to come out of this. We are just now hearing that Michael’s children might not be his. They might in fact become biological specimens of some unknown person. If this turns out to be true, then years from now those kids are going to be extremely grateful. At least they won’t have to worry about being put in a dangerous situation, like being dangled off a balcony. Unless the sperm donor turns out to be a Saudi Arabian prince, and he gains custody of the kids…then they might be become little jihadist in the near future. The sick bastard would be destroying little kid’s lives even from beyond the grave. But it’s best not to think about it now.

So that’s four. And wasn’t it three’s they di…oh my god!! Before I could even finish the realization…T.V. pitchman Billy Mays was found dead at his home in Tampa. “What the hell is going on?” My mom asked. One after another. But I’m in serious doubt, and for one very good reason that I pose as a question: is Billy Mays constituted as a celebrity? Well, we’ve been seeing him for years on T.V…he’s the guy most people mute when they hear his voice come on. And Fritzy thought I’d be glad to hear the news. But – although he was as annoying as a hemorrhoid – it was a sad story.
So, that’ now five. There’s one more, there has to be! It’s the law of…err…superstition…just like Christ. Is it time to play my own Deadpool? Time to take bets? I say Patrick Swayze. The man just doesn’t look good. I’ve also heard that legendary newsman Walter Cronkite is pretty bad.
Ah what am I talking about? That’s sick. Life is far too precious for stupid guesses like that. Forgive me. I’m just in complete and utter shock at the bombarding of celebrity deaths in the last few weeks. And most of which were unexpected.
I really hope I’m wrong anyways; the old myth is probably just that – a myth. I doubt anyone will kick the bucket anytime soon. Unless that shadow in the curtains is what I think it is: angry parolees who are upset about my essay Cancerfornia, and, alas, I become number Six…

The Human Condition

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Humans. Home-sapiens. Mankind. Whatever word one wishes to use in describing this evil little creature, it must be be acknowledged that it is, in fact, a despicable, vile, treacherous parasite that must eventually see its End. Of course, whoever is reading this now is probably dismissing the legitimacy of this assessment and deciding that the author of this post is some sort of a nutcase. Fair enough - I shalt waste time trying to argue my opinion to those who possess such an optimistic mentality; because no display of personal anguish or repeated disappointment with mankind is ever enough to convince these kinds of people that the best way to live life is alone. Instead, a “happy-go-lucky” mindset will prevail no matter how many encounters they have with the true side of human nature. I now recommend that those “good-natured people” turn away now: because it’s only going to get worse from here.
For those who do wish to spend a few quick minutes considering this author’s analysis (thank you), and to begin with, let me ask one question; would it be unreasonable to assume that all the Wars, treacheries, falsehoods (like church), random everyday lies, and other subtle, or unsubtle actions – which have been persistent throughout History – have not at least presented a certain “problem” with the very core Nature of who we are? Another way of asking is; are these relentless consistencies at all showing that we, human beings, are a savage creature, hell-bent on destruction and control?
Is it not safe to at least say that our History is literally awash with countless examples of misery, tyranny, monumental contentions, and the ever-irritating lie? And if we did observe and discern these cases in excruciating detail, could it also be reasonable to assert that Human Nature is close to what my initial assessment was – that is; a vile, devious, dishonest, and all-around disgusting creature, whose only accord is to “get over” on others and destroy lives?
I don’t believe there should be a problem at all with this view. In fact, I believe it to be very close to the truth. Now, that’s not to say that we (as a whole) have not had our moments to shine – and by that I mean to display some very noble and courageous actions. The Civil rights movement, for example, was a brilliant case in which there was a very large group of brave men and women who stood up for what was a justified cause. It’s just sad to me to think that even now there are those who look back on those days and say that it was unjustified….those are probably racist, near brain-dead Crypto-Nazis’ who themselves have no real argument or way of life, except to try and “explain” why another human being should be enslaved…or something like that.
That, I believe, is the Core of human nature. Not the bold defiant act of thousands of African Americans marching and protesting the streets, but that of the average, cowardly bigot who condemns without a shred of investigation.
By the way, I am making my assessment based upon a painstakingly long twenty-three years; more than enough time for me to decide another route than trust – that pathetic little concept which itself is like “love” or “hate” or any one of those other arbitrary emotions which is about as unabsolute as philosophy gets. Those are meritless little clichés that are used so indiscriminately and without any sincerity that they become lost with the glance of another coveted object. Be it a woman, neighbors car, or any glamorized product on T.V, all is needed is for the right chemicals in your body to “go off” and there it is again; “love”….”hate”….and my personal favorite - “trust.”
Back to my point, it would be a waste of my time to cite all the conflicts this World has given us, but let me cite just one; Vietnam. After the Second World War, when communism influence around the world was on the rise, the French Colony in Southern Asia ignited (funny choice of words for me) in a wide scale Revolution, with the Northern Communist Ho Chi Mien aggressively attacking the defenseless South. The interesting fact of this is that the American Empire, spear-headed by decision makers like President Eisenhower, were convinced that the civil war was in some part “their business.” And today, nearly all political intellectuals have concluded that the entire country not only wanted a Communist Government, but that the People now condemn the United States for that horrific era. And wouldn’t they? The civilians that the U.S. were supposed to be “protecting” were systematically butchered by our military. Millions ended up dead, imprisoned, poisoned, or worse. Is it any wonder that the Vietnamese call it The American War?
One of many, many examples recorded in our long and bloody History. However, this Human condition I’m describing (or ranting about) should not be limited to those occurrences that are so obviously horrible. I mean to say that Evil, and the symbiotic Man (or Woman), is usually more inclined to commit nefariousness when they believe to be able to “get away with it.” This is where Eve runs into the Garden of Eden, looks into the (supposedly….this is a figurative sentence) Omnipotent Eyes of God and says “I didn’t do it.” From there Mankind regressed from an intelligent creature into some sort of bacteria which has no conscience and no moral standards. Because every waking minute of every ticking second a person deliberately and gratuitously LIES. How unproper. But such is standard human behavior.
Perhaps then it wouldn’t be so detrimental if the lies did not effect so many people. But alas, like a pebble in the lake, it will cause a typhoon. The most recent illustration of this is our economic crisis. Naturally, the blame does not fall solely on one person or one institution, but it is altogether attributed to…yes, that’s right, the human parasite. This time showcasing an even greater degree of ignorance and greed. Ignorance for all those couples who thought (wrongly) that they could keep up the mortgage, and greed for all those insurance companies who “generously” hand out credit, before raising interest rates. A lethal combination of this sort thing has now led the World into full economic meltdown.
I would even be willing to wager that a large number of those couples who defaulted on their payments have had a recent break-up of sorts. This is nothing new, though, and the statistics that prove marriages don’t work, or last, are finally showing there absolute validity. Again, how many examples of failed marriages does one until the next person realizes it’s not the best idea? All these young kids running around believing this fairytale like notion of a wife, 2.5 kids, and the white picket fence….sorry, it’s not out there. If you need to feel enchantment and magic I suggest you go to Disneyland, preferably drunk or stoned, and with no more than two semi-unimportant friends.
As for the prospect of having kids…I believe it to be very unethical to bring children inside of such a damaged World. There is soon to come a very bad period in our History, worse than what the last 8,000 years has shown already. Rome nor Egypt possessed the technology to annihilate an entire city with the touch of a button. Now we have nuclear machinery being manufactured like washers & dryers. How long will it be before men who blow themselves up for a superficial god are holding on to a weapon of mass destruction? Should we really think that the thousands of nuclear arsenals of the World are going to remain unused forever? It’s only a matter of time.

This World is going to End. And sooner, rather than later. The Planet isn’t going to sustain for to much longer. As we procreate and feud and preach hate-filled sentiments, we find ourselves in a perpetual state of disarray. Never ending, because we refuse to forgive, or be honest, or tell our kids that hating other people is not right.
Three personal side thoughts (if all that wasn’t enough already); one, this economic crisis might have it’s benefits. It could be possible that if we collectively fell into the gutter, we might come out and discover what’s important to us, and to help our fellow person. When someone reaches so low, a realization occasionally occurs. If we all reached that low…who knows?
Two; not that I think its going to happen (me not being a Christian) but if Jesus Christ did come back to Earth today, I think he’d puke. Jesse Ventura was quite right to state that.
And three; the most wonderful thing that we can ask for is a Worldwide holocaust. One where 100% of the human population was instantly destroyed. It would have to be 100% because if it was only 99% then it would just be a crime, a full one-hundred….that’s a noble act.
